The Best Design Hotels shared the design of Yufengli Hotel by LYCS Architecture. The designer not only succeeded in turning factories and warehouses into high-value buildings, but also turned a century-old pawnshop into a highly popular bookstore, which is both literary and photogenic.
"The entire hotel includes a century-old courtyard, two brick industrial buildings from the 1960s, and two old warehouses from the 1990s. In order to make the three buildings of different eras meet the aesthetics of young people nowadays, the designer came up with the concept of "time and space corridor". That is to say, it retains the period part of the building, but adds a lot of modern elements to it, and meets the needs of young people in terms of space and function."
"When it comes to the biggest design highlight of Yufengli, I think it's the bookstore. In fact, once I entered Yufengli, the first thing I saw was the rows of books. The entire bookstore is spacious and bright, and I was attracted to it right away. With the courtyard of the courtyard as the center, except for one side as the vestibule, the other three sides and the large space behind it have been transformed into a bookstore, and it is hard to imagine that the place used to be very old and dilapidated before the renovation."
