This project is a competition for designing a high-rise residential development in the bustling residential area of Lima, Peru. The site is blessed with natural ocean views, a golf course and a civic park - the developer is committed to exploring the artistry of the architectural form, giving the entrants the freedom and imagination to create a unique high-rise residential experience in a tropical yet mild and humid area with warm winters and cool summers. The "Twisted Tower" received much attention for its vision of a sky villa in the city.
The greatest design challenge came from creating a luxury residential living experience with endless natural views in a high-density neighborhood of Lima. The design is stacked and twisted in a two-story unit better to appreciate the wild ocean views and golf park. The plan consists of two rectangles staggered at 45 degrees. They hinged on each other in the vertical dimension - an arrangement that allows all residential units to enjoy unobstructed views of the park and the Pacific Ocean. This design avoids visual distractions between upper and lower-level neighbors, creating a luxurious and intimate experience. More importantly, as a duplex, each unit has a terrace, garden and private pool nearly equal in size to the single interior level. The unique geometric plan allows each terrace level to receive warm tropical sun and wind exposure.
