LYCS Architecture designs KINCANG Business School with integrated architecture, interior, and soft furnishing renovation. The project is mainly for corporate office training and is located in Shaoxing's picturesque Keyan Scenic Area. The project presents new possibilities for the traditional headquarters office model and demonstrates the "resort office" concept. It also sets new standards in terms of quality, comfort and flexibility.
The business school is located on Lake Jianhu, where Lu Xun, Sun Yat-sen and Zhou En-lai once rafted, giving the site Nanyang Fanzhou. The project faces the water and the mountain, only a mountain away from the city, and the relationship with the city is as if it were separate. Hence, the site has a unique "hidden in the city" temperament.
The project is converted from two Chinese antique buildings, a two-story L-shaped triplex and a three-story quadrangle. Although the elaborate decorative style of the building facade is slightly outdated, the flying eaves and bumpy corners by the hands of Shaoxing craftsmen are very authentic. Taking the essence and removing the dross, some exquisite parts of the building are retained and a new order is introduced to meet modern office needs. The strategy proposed by the design team is a "resort-style office."
In addition to meeting the basic needs of office and meeting, the designer has also placed the functions of residence, reception, catering and live broadcast to meet the needs of closed training and R&D. Unlike the functional configuration of a traditional office. The resort-style office can meet the basic needs of office and meeting.
The office is about work, rest, volume, location, and other elements. The designer made the functional positioning of the two buildings respectively: the L-shaped triple courtyard volume is smaller and the function is mainly leisure and reception, more private and quiet. The quadrangle is larger, can better accommodate major functions such as offices and meetings, and is more public and open.
"Even though the work on the screen is uniform, there is free sunlight, air and scenery when you raise your head." This is the most intuitive experience that designers want to bring to users. The office environment is filled with nature that can be found everywhere, allowing users to combine work and leisure to form a relaxing and enjoyable "vacation-like" working atmosphere.
The designer's customized window openings for each interior space not only meet the lighting needs of modern offices but also allow the outdoor scenery to become a "hanging painting" inside and, at the same time, become a chic "picture frame" on the building façade.
The designer creates a new landscape within the building and creates a cohesive and stable working atmosphere through the treatment of landscaped public space. The atrium is the visual core of the courtyard. Combined with the inwardly sloping roof on all sides of the atrium, the designer has transformed the courtyard into a water feature. When it rains, the rainwater drips from the eaves, and the water in all directions returns to the hall calmly and distantly.
Floor-to-ceiling glass surrounds the atrium, blurring the boundary between interior and exterior. On the inner side of the corridor, a "wooden screen" is used instead of a solid wall, and the translucent U-shaped glass extends the greenery of the site into the interior, separating the space while maintaining functionality and privacy, creating an ambiguous and interesting space atmosphere.
